Through the power of Prayer, Fasting and GivingOver the last year we all have gone through our own personal peaks and valleys. Regardless of what has happened last year, in 2013 we must be more determined to move to a new level. During my faith walk I have learned to embrace three spiritual weapons that will flex the muscle of God. I believe that if we are truly obedient to the word of God we unleash every promise and prophetic word spoken in our lives. In the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 4:9 the bible talks about the value of a friend and how two is better than one.

Verse 12 says Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Every time I read this scripture I think about the three braided cord of prayer, fasting and giving. Once we truly get these disciplines lined up correctly I believe we unlock the 100 fold blessings into our lives. The power of prayer releases the 30 fold blessings in our lives in Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. We have learned through extensive teachings that praying is the most important line of communication to God.

Effective prayer needs both the attitude of complete dependence and the action of asking. Prayer demonstrates our reliance on God as we humbly invite God to fill us with faith and power. We also know that there has to be a conscious effort to take time to listen to what God is saying to us. Being still and hearing what the spirit is saying is just as important as asking the lord to move on our behalf. There is no substitute for prayer especially in circumstances that seem impossible.

That was the case with the man who brought his demon possessed son to the disciples to have them cast out that demon as Jesus was at the mountain of transfiguration. After several attempts they could not do it. When Jesus came down from the mountain he immediately cast the demon out. Mark 9:28-29 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing but prayer and fasting. Now prayer and fasting releases the 60 fold blessings into our life. Prayer opens the line of communication, but fasting crucifies the flesh and releases such a super anointing unto the people. It causes your spirit to be so sensitive and more in tuned. So many men and women in the bible used fasting as a major tool in their ministry.

From Moses to Jesus fasting was a natural and regular discipline in their lives. One of the most interesting things that was revealed to me was the ministry gifts that where birthed after the people of God went through seasons of fasting and prayer. Jesus began his earthy ministry after 40 days in the wilderness with nothing. We can only imagine how tuff that was but we have to recognize the power he was imparted with after that season of fasting. To really get to the 100 fold blessing we must begin to ask ourselves, Are we really giving God our best?

A tithe is a tenth part of one’s annual income contributed voluntarily or due as a tax, especially for the support of the clergy or church. Malachi 3:8-10 Will a man rob God Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein we have robbed me. In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me even this whole nation. Bring ye tithes into the storehouse, that there be meat in mine house and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of Hosts, if I will not open up the windows of heaven, and pour out a blessings, that there shall not be enough room to receive it.

This has always been a topic of debate for Christians as well a formidable challenge. With such a direct promise why is giving such a task for us. And are we blocking our supernatural release because we are being disobedient in our giving. I believe this might be the only scripture where God actually says test me in something.

I wonder why some really don’t test God in this area. Is it because we expect instant results in our carnal state? That is why there is such a need to embrace the three braided cord because it is not easily broken. When we pray because it forces us to line up with the word of God and truly seek his face. Secondly fasting begins to break down our fleshly thoughts and actions.

Thirdly the act of giving releases the blessings of God in our provision. It is my belief that when we do all three we activate the 100 fold blessing and unlock the power to allow God to FLEX HIS MUSCLE IN OUR LIVES. I am determined to start my year out right through three important normal Christian duties!!!Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. (Matthew 5:6 NKJV)
